If Doug Thomas’s Michigan Mob were not so corrupt Tony would have been terminated just like at any other utility or company in America. Who builts a bridge over a small ditch for the $50,000? For golf cart parking at McIntosh Power Plant? Another question, is Tony still taking his City car to his house in West Palm on weekends to save on gas money?

Demand Contract Not Be Renewed
Please contact your City Commissioner and demand that they not renew Doug Thomas’ contract in December of this year. Mr. Thomas and his Michigan Mob have wasted enough of our money on frivolous things. One example is allotting $50,000.00 to build a golf cart parking lot at the Lakeland Electric McIntosh Power Plant. This project is consists of a small bridge over a ditch, some chain link fence and a few 120 outlets. In our opinion this should cost way less than $10,000. Our Question is why they would build this at all. They already have a parking lot and have already paid someone to put outlets in that parking lot. Second Question why do the Bosses need golf carts to ride around the plant. Surprisingly this contract was awarded to Energy Supply Construction Group (ESCG) and this is the same group that installed a $1983.00 door bell at the same plant. They seem to get all the Questionable bids at Lakeland Electric. $1983.00 for a doorbell? In our opinion you could have installed a wireless camera for less than half of that or a conventional door bell for less than a hundred dollars. The Energy Supply Construction Group (ESCP) also constructed an aluminum awning at the McIntosh Power Plant.

In less than two months it collapsed due to rain and not having enough pitch to drain. I guess ESCG did not know that it rains in Florida. If anyone was under it they probably would have been seriously injured. Believe it or not ESCG received the contract to remove the pile of rubble and construct a new one. We could go on all day about the ESCG and how they have received millions of dollars worth of questionable bids from the City of Lakeland. The Employees have gone up the chain of command all the way to Doug Thomas; all requests to stop these questionable practices have been ignored.
The Employees who work for the City of Lakeland are also treated with no dignity or respect. One example is that an employee who works for the water department felt they were sexually harassed by one of their bosses. We went to the head of the City of Lakeland Human Resource Department with the complaint as is the City policy. After waiting over two months for an answer we received a copy of the report. The report was a letter written by the alleged perpetrator denying he did it. No other investigation took place. Here is the email from the head of City of Lakeland HR and a Union Rep who represents the victim. (We have removed the name of the victim)
